The Monaco Grand Prix: F1's Most Prestigious Weekend

The Monaco Grand Prix is the most glamorous event on the Formula 1 calendar, and experiencing it from a superyacht in Port Hercule is the ultimate expression of motorsport hospitality. With the circuit running through the streets of Monte Carlo just metres from the harbour, a yacht berth offers an unrivalled vantage point for the racing, combined with the privacy and luxury of your own floating hospitality venue.

The Experience

Imagine watching Formula 1 cars accelerate out of the tunnel and brake hard into the chicane, all from the sundeck of your yacht with a champagne flute in hand. The sound is visceral, the atmosphere electric, and the proximity to the action is unlike anything else in motorsport. Between sessions, you can retreat to the air-conditioned salon, enjoy a gourmet lunch prepared by your chef, or tender across to the Casino Square for an evening at the tables.

Securing a Berth

Port Hercule berths during the Grand Prix are among the most coveted positions in the yachting world. Berths are allocated based on yacht size, with the largest superyachts securing the most prominent positions along the quay. Demand far exceeds supply, and berths must be secured 12–18 months in advance.

Bluebnc Yachting has established relationships with the Port Hercule authorities and can assist in securing berths for our charter clients. Early planning is essential — contact us as soon as your dates are confirmed.

The Grand Prix Weekend

Thursday: Free practice sessions. The harbour fills with yachts, and the social scene begins. Thursday evening is traditionally one of the liveliest nights, with parties across the harbour.

Saturday: Qualifying. The tension builds as drivers push for pole position. Saturday evening is the peak of the social calendar, with events at the Casino, Amber Lounge, and private yacht parties.

Sunday: Race day. The main event. The atmosphere in the harbour is extraordinary as the cars line up on the grid. After the race, the celebrations continue well into the night.

Planning Your Grand Prix Charter

A Monaco Grand Prix charter requires careful planning:

  • Book 12–18 months ahead: The best yachts and berths are secured early
  • Budget accordingly: Grand Prix week commands premium charter rates and berth fees
  • Plan your guest list: Port Hercule berths have capacity limits based on yacht size
  • Consider the full week: Many clients charter for the entire race week (Wednesday to Monday)
  • Arrange shore-side access: Grandstand tickets, paddock passes, and event invitations complement the yacht experience
