Maldives Yacht Charter
& Diving Guide
Pristine atolls, manta ray encounters, whale shark swimming, and the Indian Ocean's most extraordinary underwater world — experienced from a luxury yacht.
The Destination
The World's Ultimate Diving Frontier
The Republic of Maldives — 1,192 coral islands scattered across 26 atolls in the Indian Ocean — represents the pinnacle of yacht charter diving. Nowhere else on earth can you encounter manta rays in such numbers, swim alongside whale sharks with such regularity, or explore coral ecosystems of such pristine beauty. The Maldives is not merely a diving destination; it is the diving destination.
A yacht charter transforms the Maldivian experience from resort-based to expedition-grade. Rather than diving the same house reef repeatedly, you move between atolls, following the marine life. Your captain reads the currents and tides to position you at the right channel at the right moment. Your dive guide knows which thila (submerged pinnacle) holds the cleaning station where mantas hover, and which kandu (channel) the grey reef sharks patrol at dawn.
Blue Charter arranges Maldives yacht charters that combine world-class diving with the comfort and privacy of a luxury vessel. We coordinate cruising permits, dive logistics, and atoll-specific itineraries that maximise your encounters with the Maldives' extraordinary marine life. Whether you're a seasoned diver seeking hammerhead encounters or a family wanting to snorkel with manta rays, we design the charter around your experience level and ambitions.

Manta Ray Encounters
The Maldives hosts the world's largest population of reef manta rays. At Hanifaru Bay (Baa Atoll), up to 200 mantas feed simultaneously during the monsoon season. Lankan Manta Point in North Malé offers year-round cleaning station encounters where mantas hover motionless while cleaner wrasse attend to them.
Whale Shark Swimming
South Ari Atoll is one of the few places on earth where whale sharks — the world's largest fish — can be encountered year-round. These magnificent creatures, reaching 12 metres in length, feed on plankton in the atoll's channels. Encounters are conducted under strict guidelines to protect the animals.
Night Diving
Maldivian night dives reveal a completely different underwater world. Nurse sharks emerge from their daytime resting spots, octopuses hunt across the reef, and bioluminescent plankton creates an ethereal glow. Many charter yachts offer guided night dives from the swim platform.
Sandbank Picnics
Between dives, your crew will set up private picnics on uninhabited sandbanks — temporary islands that appear and disappear with the tides. Champagne, fresh seafood, and 360-degree views of turquoise water create unforgettable moments that define the Maldivian charter experience.
Atoll Guide
Maldives Atolls for Yacht Charter
Each atoll offers distinct diving conditions and marine encounters. We design itineraries that combine multiple atolls for the most diverse experience.
The gateway to the Maldives and home to the capital Malé, this atoll offers the most accessible diving and charter experience. The atoll's channels (kandus) create nutrient-rich currents that attract pelagic species — grey reef sharks, eagle rays, and Napoleon wrasse are regular sightings. The famous Banana Reef, one of the first dive sites discovered in the Maldives, features dramatic overhangs teeming with soft corals and glass fish. For yacht charters, the atoll offers proximity to the international airport with world-class diving within minutes of departure.
