Overview

Montenegro is the Adriatic's best-kept secret — a country of dramatic fjords, medieval walled towns, and pristine coastline that rivals anywhere in the Mediterranean. This 7-day itinerary explores the spectacular Bay of Kotor, the glamorous Budva Riviera, and finishes in the pearl of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik.

Why Montenegro?

Montenegro offers the beauty of Croatia and the charm of Italy at a fraction of the cost and crowds. Porto Montenegro has established itself as one of the Mediterranean's premier superyacht marinas, and the country's compact coastline means short cruising distances between extraordinary destinations.

Highlights

  • Porto Montenegro superyacht marina
  • Bay of Kotor — Europe's southernmost fjord
  • Perast and its island churches
  • Kotor Old Town UNESCO site
  • Sveti Stefan island resort
  • Budva Riviera beaches

Day by day

  1. Day 1: Porto Montenegro — Superyacht Hub

    Tivat

Morning: Arrive at Tivat Airport and transfer to Porto Montenegro, one of the Mediterranean's most impressive superyacht marinas. Board your yacht and enjoy a champagne welcome.

Afternoon: Explore Porto Montenegro's luxury village — boutiques, restaurants, and the Maritime Heritage Museum housed in a former naval arsenal.

Evening: Dinner at One, Porto Montenegro's signature restaurant, overlooking the marina and the mountains beyond.

  2. Day 2: Bay of Kotor — Europe's Fjord

    Tivat → Kotor · 8 nm

Morning: Cruise deeper into the Bay of Kotor, one of the most dramatic natural harbours in the world. The mountains rise sheer from the water, creating a fjord-like landscape.

Afternoon: Explore Kotor Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the ancient walls, visit St. Tryphon's Cathedral, and get lost in the labyrinth of medieval streets.

Evening: Dinner aboard in the bay, with the illuminated walls of Kotor creating a magical backdrop.

  3. Day 3: Perast — Baroque Elegance

    Kotor → Perast · 5 nm

Morning: Short cruise to Perast, a perfectly preserved Baroque town with 16 churches and 17 palazzos. Take the tender to Our Lady of the Rocks, a tiny island church built on an artificial reef.

Afternoon: Explore Perast's palazzos and the Maritime Museum. Swim in the crystal-clear waters of the inner bay.

Evening: Dine at Conte, a waterfront restaurant in a restored palazzo, with views across to the island churches.

  4. Day 4: Budva Riviera — Beach Life

    Perast → Budva · 22 nm

Morning: Exit the Bay of Kotor and cruise south along the coast to Budva. Pass the dramatic Verige Strait where the bay narrows to just 300 metres.

Afternoon: Anchor off Budva and explore the charming Old Town with its Venetian walls, churches, and narrow streets. Swim at Mogren Beach, one of Montenegro's finest.

Evening: Budva has a vibrant nightlife scene. Enjoy cocktails at Top Hill, an open-air club perched on a clifftop with panoramic sea views.

  5. Day 5: Sveti Stefan — The Iconic Island

    Budva → Sveti Stefan · 5 nm

Morning: Short cruise to Sveti Stefan, Montenegro's most iconic landmark — a fortified island village connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway, now an Aman resort.

Afternoon: Anchor in the bay and enjoy water sports. The pink-sand beach is one of the most photographed in the Adriatic. Arrange a spa treatment at the Aman resort.

Evening: Farewell Montenegro dinner aboard, with Sveti Stefan illuminated against the darkening sky.

  6. Day 6: Herceg Novi — Gateway to the Bay

Sveti Stefan → Herceg Novi · 28 nm

Morning: Cruise north to Herceg Novi at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor. This charming town is known as the 'City of Flowers' for its lush Mediterranean gardens.

Afternoon: Explore the Kanli Kula fortress, the Savina Monastery, and the town's many staircases and hidden squares. Visit the Blue Grotto sea cave by tender.

Evening: Dinner at Konoba Catovica Mlini, a legendary restaurant in a 15th-century olive mill, serving the finest Montenegrin seafood.

  7. Day 7: Dubrovnik — Pearl of the Adriatic

    Herceg Novi → Dubrovnik · 32 nm

Morning: Cross the border into Croatia and cruise to Dubrovnik. The approach by sea, with the medieval walls rising from the water, is one of the most spectacular arrivals in the Mediterranean.

Afternoon: Walk the famous city walls for panoramic views. Explore the Stradun, visit the Rector's Palace, and ride the cable car to Mount Srđ.

Evening: Farewell dinner at 360°, a Michelin-starred restaurant on the city walls with views over the old harbour. Disembark the following morning.
