British & US Virgin Islands
Overview
The British and U.S. Virgin Islands are a premier yachting destination, offering an unparalleled blend of natural beauty, luxury, and adventure. This stunning archipelago, comprised of over 100 islands and cays, is a sailor's paradise, with steady trade winds, calm, turquoise waters, and an abundance of sheltered anchorages. The close proximity of the islands allows for easy, line-of-sight navigation, making it an ideal destination for both seasoned sailors and first-time charterers.
The BVI and USVI offer a diverse range of experiences, from the chic restaurants and lively beach bars of St. Barts and St. Maarten to the pristine, undeveloped national parks of St. John. The islands are rich in history and culture, with a unique blend of Caribbean, European, and American influences. The local cuisine is a delicious fusion of fresh seafood, tropical fruits, and Caribbean spices, and the nightlife is as vibrant and varied as the islands themselves.
The best time to charter a yacht in the Virgin Islands is from December to May, when the weather is dry and the trade winds are at their most consistent. The summer months are also a popular time to visit, with warmer temperatures and calmer seas. The official currency in the BVI is the US Dollar, and English is the official language. Tipping is customary, and a gratuity of 15-20% of the charter fee is recommended for the crew.
The main embarkation and disembarkation ports are in St. Thomas, USVI, and Tortola, BVI. Both islands have international airports with direct flights from the United States and Europe. Customs and immigration procedures are straightforward, and your charter broker will assist you with all the necessary paperwork.

Day 1
Arrive at Cyril E. King Airport (STT) in St. Thomas, where your private transfer will whisk you away to the prestigious Yacht Haven Grande marina. Step aboard your magnificent charter yacht, where the crew awaits with chilled champagne and a warm welcome. For dinner, your private chef will create a bespoke dining experience under the stars. Alternatively, we can make reservations ashore at the elegant and romantic restaurant, The Terrace, for a taste of contemporary French cuisine with a Caribbean twist.
Charlotte Amalie was once the biggest rum-producing port in the world. Visit the historic warehouses that now house shops and restaurants.

Day 2
Awake to the gentle rocking of the yacht and the aroma of freshly brewed coffee. After a leisurely breakfast, we will cruise to the legendary island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. Our first stop is the world-famous Soggy Dollar Bar in White Bay, where you can wade ashore and sample the original Painkiller cocktail. The beach here is pure white sand, and the water is a brilliant turquoise – a perfect spot for a morning swim.
After a casual beachside lunch at Hendo's Hideout, we will move to Great Harbour, a vibrant and colorful anchorage. Explore the small, charming village, or take the yacht's tender to the nearby Bubbly Pool, a natural jacuzzi formed by the ocean swells. For the more adventurous, a hike to the top of the island offers breathtaking panoramic views.
As evening approaches, the island comes alive with music and laughter. We will enjoy a festive Caribbean barbecue on the beach, prepared by your crew. Later, head to Foxy's Tamarind Bar, a legendary institution known for its live music, dancing, and potent rum punch. It's an authentic Caribbean experience you won't want to miss.
Two-thirds of St. John is national park, donated by Laurence Rockefeller. It's the most pristine island in the Caribbean.

Day 3
After a delightful breakfast, we'll cruise to the legendary Norman Island, rumored to be the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel, "Treasure Island." We'll anchor at the base of the dramatic cliffs, and you can take the tender to explore the famous caves at Treasure Point. Snorkel or dive in the crystal-clear water, and imagine the pirates who once hid their ill-gotten gains in these very caves.
Following a sumptuous lunch on board, we'll motor to the nearby "Indians," a series of four rock pinnacles that rise dramatically from the sea. This is a premier snorkeling and diving site, teeming with colorful coral and a dazzling array of tropical fish. The underwater visibility is exceptional, making it a truly immersive experience.
As the afternoon winds down, we'll find a peaceful anchorage in The Bight, a large and well-protected bay. For dinner, we can arrange a memorable meal at the Pirates Bight restaurant, a chic beach club with a sophisticated menu and a lively atmosphere. It's the perfect place to unwind after a day of adventure.

Day 4
Enjoy a tranquil breakfast as we cruise to the charming and eco-friendly Cooper Island. We will anchor in the beautiful Manchioneel Bay, where you can spend the morning exploring the vibrant coral reefs right off the beach. Kayak or paddleboard along the coastline, or simply relax on the pristine, white-sand beach. The Cooper Island Beach Club offers a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, with a microbrewery and a delightful coffee shop.
Prepare for an unforgettable underwater adventure as we visit the Wreck of the RMS Rhone, one of the most famous dive sites in the Caribbean. This Royal Mail Steamer sank in a hurricane in 1867 and is now a fascinating artificial reef, teeming with marine life. Certified divers can explore the impressive wreck, while snorkelers can enjoy the shallower sections, which are equally impressive. Your crew will arrange for a private dive master to guide you through this historic site.
As the sun sets, we will return to our anchorage at Cooper Island. Enjoy a cocktail at the renowned Rum Bar, which boasts an impressive collection of rare and exotic rums from around the world. For dinner, your chef will prepare a gourmet meal on board, or we can dine at the Cooper Island Beach Club, known for its sustainable and locally sourced cuisine.
Arrive at The Baths before 10am to avoid the cruise ship crowds. The morning light filtering through the boulders is magical.

Day 5
Today, we set a course for the stunning island of Virgin Gorda, home to one of the most iconic natural wonders in the Caribbean: The Baths. We will arrive early to avoid the crowds, allowing you to explore this unique geological formation in peace. Giant granite boulders form a series of picturesque grottos and hidden pools, creating a magical and otherworldly landscape. It's a photographer's dream and a truly unforgettable experience.
After a morning of exploration, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at the Top of the Baths restaurant, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding islands. We will anchor for the night and enjoy a gourmet dinner on board, or for a change of scenery, we can take the tender to the newly rebuilt and very chic Saba Rock Resort for a memorable dining experience.

Day 6
Prepare for a change of scenery as we embark on a beautiful sail to Anegada, the only coral island in the BVI's volcanic chain. The island is flat and low-lying, with miles of pristine, deserted beaches. We will anchor off Setting Point and take a taxi to Loblolly Bay, one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. The snorkeling here is exceptional, with a vibrant coral reef just a short swim from the shore.
For lunch, we will indulge in the island's specialty: freshly grilled Anegada lobster. The Big Bamboo restaurant at Loblolly Bay is a local favorite, serving up delicious seafood in a casual and relaxed setting. In the afternoon, you can explore the island's unique flora and fauna, including the native Anegada rock iguana, or simply relax on the beach and soak in the tranquility of this remote paradise.
As the sun sets, we will return to the yacht for cocktails and canapés. For our final evening in the BVI, we will enjoy a special farewell dinner on board, celebrating a week of unforgettable memories. Alternatively, we can dine at the Anegada Reef Hotel, a charming and historic hotel with a reputation for excellent food and a lively atmosphere.
