Croatia's Dalmatian Coast has emerged as one of the Mediterranean's most compelling yacht charter destinations, offering a remarkable combination of medieval walled cities, over a thousand islands, and crystal-clear Adriatic waters that rival anywhere in the region. The coastline stretching from Dubrovnik to Split, with the islands of Hvar, Brač, Korčula, and Vis scattered offshore, creates a cruising ground of extraordinary variety and beauty.
Dubrovnik, the "Pearl of the Adriatic," provides a dramatic starting point for any charter, its UNESCO-listed Old Town rising from the sea behind massive medieval walls. From here, itineraries typically head northwest through the Elaphiti Islands to Korčula — believed by some to be the birthplace of Marco Polo — and on to Hvar, the island that has become synonymous with Mediterranean glamour. Vis, the furthest inhabited island from the mainland, rewards visitors with the famous Blue Cave on Biševo and some of the most authentic Croatian cuisine.
Split, with its extraordinary Diocletian's Palace — a Roman emperor's retirement home that has evolved into a living city centre — serves as an alternative base for charters exploring the central Dalmatian islands. The Kornati National Park, an archipelago of 89 islands, offers some of the most dramatic and unspoiled cruising in the Adriatic.
The Croatian charter season runs from May through October, with July and August being the warmest and busiest months.
