It depends on the yacht's length, the season and where you cruise. Among the yachts we list, the middle half of published high-season weekly rates for a 30 to 40 metre yacht runs from €70,000 to €135,000. The APA, typically 25–35% of the charter fee, and VAT or local tax where it applies come on top. Your broker confirms the exact rate for your dates.

Under the MYBA agreement, the charter fee covers the yacht and her equipment, the crew's wages and food, and the insurance of the yacht and crew. Fuel, food and drink for your party, berthing and other running costs are paid at cost through the APA. A crew gratuity is customary but is not part of the contract.

For the peak weeks, July and August in the Mediterranean or Christmas and New Year in the Caribbean, book 6 to 12 months ahead for the widest choice. Outside the peak, 3 to 6 months is often enough. For event weeks such as the Monaco Grand Prix, enquire as early as you can.

In summer, mainly in the western Mediterranean: the Balearic Islands, the French Riviera and Monaco, Corsica and Sardinia, and the Amalfi Coast. In winter, in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, including the British Virgin Islands, St Barths and Antigua. Each destination page shows only the yachts listed for that cruising area.

No. A crewed charter comes with a professional captain and crew who operate the yacht. The captain is responsible for navigation and for the safety of the yacht and her guests, and plans each day around your wishes.

It is the standard contract for crewed term charters, published by MYBA The Worldwide Yachting Association and used for most charters in the Mediterranean and many in the Caribbean. The current edition dates from 2025, and the 2017 edition remains valid when both parties sign it. Your broker confirms which form applies to your yacht; the agreement you sign governs your charter.

The amounts and dates are set on Page One of the charter agreement. A common pattern is 50% of the charter fee on signing and the balance, with the APA and any VAT, about one month before embarkation. Payments are held by the stakeholder under the terms of the agreement, and the captain gives you a full account of the APA before you disembark.

Motor yachts generally offer more interior volume, more deck space and quicker passages between anchorages. Sailing yachts offer the quiet of cruising under sail and a closer connection to the sea. Your broker compares both for your group, your itinerary and the season.

The captain follows the forecast and adapts the route, often moving to a sheltered anchorage or another island. Decisions on navigation and safety remain with the captain. Your broker can explain what the agreement provides if the weather affects your plans.

Most charter yachts welcome families, and many crews are experienced with younger guests. Some yachts have age limits or particular safety features, so your broker will advise on the yachts that suit your family.
