Question 1

What makes St. Martin unique for yacht charters?

Accepted Answer

St. Martin is the smallest island in the world shared by two nations — France (Saint-Martin) and the Netherlands (Sint Maarten). This dual identity creates a unique charter experience: French gastronomy and chic beach clubs on one side, duty-free shopping and vibrant nightlife on the other. The island's Simpson Bay Lagoon is one of the Caribbean's largest yacht harbours.

Question 2

How much does a St. Martin yacht charter cost?

Accepted Answer

St. Martin yacht charters range from €25,000 to €250,000+ per week. A 30-metre motor yacht averages €40,000-€70,000 per week in peak season. The island's duty-free status on the Dutch side keeps provisioning costs competitive, and Simpson Bay Marina offers modern facilities for yachts up to 60+ metres.

Question 3

What are the best beaches in St. Martin to visit by yacht?

Accepted Answer

The best yacht-accessible beaches include Orient Bay (French side, clothing-optional section), Baie Rouge (secluded French beach), Maho Beach (famous for low-flying aircraft), Mullet Bay (calm turquoise waters), and Happy Bay (accessible only by boat or hiking trail). Your crew can anchor offshore and tender you to each beach.

Question 4

Can I use St. Martin as a base for Caribbean island hopping?

Accepted Answer

St. Martin is an ideal base for Caribbean island hopping, with Anguilla just 5 nautical miles north, St. Barths 15 nm southeast, and Saba 28 nm southwest. A 7-day charter from St. Martin can visit 4-5 islands, each with a distinct character — from Anguilla's luxury resorts to Saba's volcanic diving to St. Barths' French glamour.

Question 5

When is the best time to charter a yacht in St. Martin?

Accepted Answer

The best time for a St. Martin yacht charter is December to May, with peak season from mid-December to April. Trade winds provide steady 15-18 knot breezes, and rainfall is minimal. The Heineken Regatta (March) is the island's biggest sailing event. Water temperatures remain a warm 26-28°C throughout the season.
