Elegant dining table set for dinner aboard a luxury superyacht

Provisioning & Catering

The definitive guide to dining aboard a luxury yacht charter — from your chef's capabilities to wine selection and dietary accommodations.

Dining at Sea — A Culinary Experience

One of the greatest pleasures of a yacht charter is the food. Your onboard chef — typically trained at Michelin-starred restaurants or top culinary schools — will create bespoke menus tailored to your exact preferences. Before your charter, you will receive a detailed preference sheet covering cuisine styles, dietary requirements, allergies, favourite dishes, wine preferences, and any special occasions to celebrate. The result is restaurant-quality dining in the most spectacular settings imaginable.

What's Included

Gourmet Cuisine

Your onboard chef will create bespoke menus tailored to your preferences. From Michelin-level tasting menus to casual Mediterranean fare, every meal is an event. Most chefs trained at top culinary schools and have worked in the world's finest restaurants.

Wine & Spirits

A curated wine cellar stocked to your preferences — from first-growth Bordeaux to vintage Champagne. Your charter broker will send a detailed preference sheet covering wines, spirits, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options.

Specialty Provisions

From Japanese wagyu beef to white truffles, your chef sources the finest local and international ingredients. Many chefs visit local markets at each port of call to ensure the freshest seasonal produce.

Children's Menus

Family-friendly options that go beyond chicken nuggets. Chefs create nutritious, appealing meals for younger guests — from homemade pasta to fresh fruit smoothies and healthy snacks available throughout the day.

Dietary Requirements

Vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, kosher, halal, keto, paleo — every dietary requirement is accommodated with the same level of creativity and quality as the main menu. Allergies are treated with the utmost seriousness.

Allergy Management

A detailed allergy questionnaire is completed before every charter. The chef maintains a separate preparation area for allergen-free meals, and all ingredients are cross-referenced against declared allergies.

A Day of Dining on Board

Every meal is an occasion. Here's what a typical day of dining looks like aboard a luxury charter yacht.

Breakfast

Fresh pastries and artisan bread, tropical fruit platters, eggs Benedict with smoked salmon, açaí bowls, freshly squeezed juices, barista-quality coffee

Lunch

Mediterranean mezze spreads, grilled local fish, lobster salads, homemade pasta, sushi platters, wood-fired pizza from the onboard oven

Afternoon

Champagne and canapés, cheese and charcuterie boards, fresh fruit and sorbet, afternoon tea with scones and finger sandwiches

Dinner

Multi-course tasting menus, themed dinner nights (Japanese, Italian, local cuisine), beach barbecues, lobster bakes, wine-paired dinners

Understanding the APA

The Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) — typically 25–35% of the charter fee — covers all running expenses during your charter. Here's how it's typically allocated.

25–35%

Provisioning Tips

Complete the preference sheet thoroughly — the more detail, the better your chef can prepare
Mention any special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries) so the chef can plan surprise celebrations
Request a sample menu from the chef before your charter to preview the culinary style
Ask about local specialities at each port — the best chefs love showcasing regional cuisine
Specify your preferred dining schedule — some guests prefer late dinners, others early
Don't hesitate to request changes mid-charter — flexibility is a hallmark of private yachting
Bring any favourite wines or spirits if you have specific preferences not easily sourced locally
Discuss children's meal times and preferences separately from the adult menu
